Meet the Artists
Sinead Gildea currently choreographs and teaches in the Chicago area and conducts Master Classes throughout the Midwest. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she danced with the University's professional touring company. She has been on staff at Lou Conte Dance Studio and the Illinois High School Dance Festival. She was co-founder and Executive Director of Impetus Dance Theater, a professional dance company based in Chicago. Sinead recently set a new work on Inaside Chicago Dance, and has choreographed for various production companies, Impetus Dance Theater, Fisher Dance Center's professional production of "The Journalist", and her choreography has been regularly featured in Dance Chicago. Her choreography for Whitney Young High School was voted Best Choreography by the audience at Dance Chicago 2008's Dance Slam, and earned an invitation to be performed at the prestigious Young!Tanzsommer dance festival in Austria.
Sinead has also choreographed for Forum Jazz Dance Theatre, Midwest Dance Collective, Integrity Dance Project, The Dance Exchange, Prelude Dance Theatre, Oak Park and River Forest High School Dance Group, South Elgin High School Dance Team, Lake Zurich High School Orchesis, Mt. Prospect High School Orchesis, and holiday showcases Polar Express and Nightmare Before Christmas. Sinead has served as advisor and/or director for Forum Jazz Dance Theatre and Midwest Dance Collective, and is currently Co- Artistic Director of student dance ensemble Motions Dance Company. Her choreography for Motions has been featured in the Motions Annual Concert and other area concert dance performances, and has placed first at numerous regional and national talent competitions. Her dancing has been seen on ABC, WGN, and WTTW and has been called "brilliant" by the Chicago Reader; she has performed with Impetus Dance Theater, Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre, The Cerqua Rivera Art Experience, Harrison McEldowney, Eddy Ocampo, Randy Duncan, Jan Erkert, and many more.
She has also danced in numerous dance festivals, is a regular performer with various production companies, and has appeared in many prestigious benefit performances. She was a featured dancer for the Black Orchid Supper Club and Dance Captain for Flirt Cabaret, and performed the role of Ivy in "On The Town" at Schaumburg's Prairie Center for the Arts. Sinead is also a regional and national adjudicator for Applause Talent Competitions.
